About the Second Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum

The Second Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China will be held in Beijing from August 4 to 10, 2004.

15 presidents and specialists from renowned universities in France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Russia, the UK,and the USA have kindly accepted the invitation (Keynote  Speakers) from the Chinese Minister of Education, Dr. Zhou Ji, to speak at the forum. On the Chinese side, over 120 Chinese university presidents will attend the Forum. Total Chinese participants to this forum would exceed 160.

Regarding the significance of the event, Minister Zhou Ji once stated that Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum should be ¡°the most important platform for Chinese and Foreign Presidents to communicate and share experiences with each other¡±. Based on the success of the First Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum in 2002, the Chinese Ministry of Education has decided to hold a Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum every one or two years since then.

The Second Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum of 2004 will focus on two themes: 1) strategic planning of university development; 2) scientific innovation and technology transfer. The Forum will include both plenary sessions for lectures and panel discussions as well as Concurrent seminars between lectures.

Concerned Departments of the Chinese Ministry of Education are working with Peking University, Tsinghua University and the National Academy of Educational Administration (NAEA) to make this event a success.
